Catalera BioSolutions is looking for a customer-focused Technical Sales Representative to join our team.
As a Technical Sales Representative, you will play a pivotal role in driving our product education, adoption, supporting market positioning, and fostering strong customer relationships. This role involves providing technical expertise, product training, and strategic input to align our product offerings with market demands in the agricultural biotechnology space. You will work closely with internal teams, customers, and industry stakeholders to promote Catalera’s innovative product lines and ensure successful commercial launches.
Our ideal candidate has a strong understanding of our customer requirements and the ability to effectively communicate the benefits, value, and application of our products in agricultural segments. You will also have significant industry contacts that support our customer and sales objectives.
Our Technical Sales Representative will work from a US home office base in the western region, with close proximity to an international airport. You will travel up to 50% of the time to our head office in Canada and customer sites primarily in the US and currently concentrated in the US, with development in Canada and Mexico.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Technical Expertise & Support
- Provide expert technical support for all Catalera products, ensuring accurate product usage recommendations, and offering guidance on promotional materials and market positioning within target segments.
- Lead as our technical representative during customer meetings, conferences, and events, effectively promoting product capabilities and addressing inquiries with clear communication and solutions.
- Establish and manage field trials and demonstration plots and budgets for the education and promotion of existing and new product launches with 3rd party researchers and influencers within the industry.
Training & Product Advocacy
- Deliver product training sessions for both internal team members and external customers, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of Catalera’s offerings.
- Act as the lead technical advocate during marketing initiatives, ensuring product positioning supports claims and meet marketing objectives.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by responding to inquiries, troubleshooting any product-related issues, and providing ongoing technical support.
- Collaborate with the sales team to align product promotions with customer needs, driving adoption and satisfaction among a diverse customer base.
Market Insights & Strategy
- Identify, analyze, and report on market trends within the agricultural biotech industry, offering data-driven recommendations to support strategic business decisions.
Sales & Growth Support
- Partner with our commercial team members to develop strategies for promoting Catalera products and technologies to various end-users and industry groups.
- Provide data for statistical analysis and reporting to support business objectives, sales targets, and market penetration.
- Actively contribute to the growth of Catalera’s product line and technology advancement by providing regular feedback and insights.
Industry Engagement
- Represent Catalera at industry conferences, workshops, and special interest group meetings, generating excitement around new innovations, technologies, and product pipelines.
- Foster collaborations with university, contract, and government researchers to increase visibility and adoption of Catalera’s products in trial programs.
- Deliver 3rd party endorsements of our products based on our data and results.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc degree in agriculture, biology, horticulture or soil science; or the equivalent education and years of experience; a Masters or PhD in a related agricultural disciplines is a strong asset.
- 5+ years’ experience in agricultural research and product development and experience in commercial launch of biological products.
- Proven ability to provide technical expertise and guidance specific to our products.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
